Lewis is the Chair of the Private Client Services Group at Kaufman & Canoles. In addition to the transmission of family businesses and wealth to next generations, the transmission of family values is often an additional significant desire of his clients. As such, in addition to the tax law, Lewis focuses on the interrelated dynamics of the family and any family business, addressing any existing conflicts or tension and working to ensure that the family assets ultimately support, and not negatively enable, the client’s heirs. All of this requires a thorough understanding of business and business entities, and the full range of estate and charitable planning tools available. His clients represent a wide range of professions including real estate developers, owners of manufacturing, retail, construction and food processing companies, as well as wealthy individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
