February 2025 – Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that John J. Chappell, III has joined the firm’s Virginia Beach office.

Mr. Chappell is Of Counsel in the firm’s Virginia Beach office and a member of the firm’s Real Estate Claims & Title Insurance Solutions group. He comes to the firm with a decade of law experience. With his experience in real estate title curative litigation, consumer finance defense litigation, foreclosure, bankruptcy, creditors rights, evictions, as well as mechanic’s liens, he will strengthen the firm’s Real Estate Claims and Title Insurance Solutions Practice Group. 

Mr. Chappell has been recognized by CoVaBIZ Magazine as a Top Lawyer of Coastal Virginia for Civil Law Litigation and Bankruptcy and Workout and Virginia Business Magazine’s Legal Elite for Real Estate/Land Use. He is admitted to practice law in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. Mr. Chappell received his B.A. from Randolph-Macon College and his J.D. from the Appalachian School of Law.
