    Biography

    Lauren is a Member in the firm’s Norfolk office and a member of the Health Care, Litigation, and Data Privacy and Security Practice Groups, and the Senior Housing and Care Team. She represents clients, including health systems, hospitals, practices, long-term care facilities, and individual health care providers, in all aspects of health care litigation matters, including defense of medical malpractice and wrongful death actions as well as disciplinary actions by state licensing boards. Lauren also provides guidance on various health care decision-making matters, including HIPAA breach prevention and compliance, peer review and quality assurance programs, and counsel to hospitals regarding staff matters, quality assurance, EMTALA, HIPAA, Medicare, healthcare decisions and other regulatory and risk management issues. Lauren is Chair of the Associates Committee and serves on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

    Representative Matters

    • Represented clients, including health systems, hospitals, practices, long-term care facilities, and individual health care providers, in all aspects of litigation matters in both state and federal court
    • Defended health care professionals when their depositions are requested as treating providers
    • Counseled health systems, hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and other health care professionals on issues of risk management and regulatory compliance
    • Advised healthcare providers of all types on HIPAA breach prevention and compliance
    • Counseled a major hospital system through re-drafting of consent forms for regulatory compliance and other legal concerns
    • Developed peer review and quality assurance programs for physician practices
    • Counseled numerous hospitals on medical staff matters, quality assurance, EMTALA, HIPAA, healthcare decisions and other regulatory and risk management issues
