August 2022 - Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce the Firm has been named one of the Top Workplaces 2022, fifth place, for mid-sized companies. The annual list of Top Workplaces is created by Inside Business.
The Firm was recognized for their internal improvement and self-reflection focusing on diversity and inclusion, including hosting seminars and workshops as well as having a standing committee dedicated to D&I, as it’s known within the firm. According to Mary Beth Sherwin, a Member in the firm’s Health Care Group and Chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, “I am grateful and proud of our Firm leadership that D&I was made a priority in advance of recent events in our world, rather than in reaction to them. Our Firm has chosen to place emphasis on the D&I mission rather than simply giving it lip service. The rich fabric of a place that is not only diverse but also inclusive makes all the difference in whether your employees have a voice and feel heard and included.”
The core of the Top Workplaces program is an employee survey. With the help of Energage, an employee survey company collected feedback from those who know the organizations the best: the people who work there. Employee feedback is the main source for determining which employees make the Top Workplaces list. Employers were divided in order to compare feedback of similar-size groups. Organizations that exceeded benchmark scores for each size group made the winners list. The overall scores were determined based on employee feedback, the more positive the responses, the higher the rank.
This distinguished award identifies, recognizes, and honors the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state's economy, its work force, and its businesses.
