November 2024 - Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that Colin P. McCarthy has joined the firm’s Richmond office.

Mr. McCarthy is Of Counsel in the firm’s Richmond office and a member of the Health Care Practice Group. He comes to the firm with almost 15 years of experience serving clients in all aspects of health care law. His practice focuses on helping healthcare providers navigate the complex regulations that govern the healthcare industry, with an emphasis on health care reimbursement, fraud, and abuse laws, HIPAA, audits and investigations, and challenges related to licensing, enrollment, and certification.

Prior to joining Kaufman & Canoles, Mr. McCarthy was Counsel with McGuire Woods LLP in Richmond. He received his B.A. from Christopher Newport University and his J.D. from William & Mary Law School.

Kaufman & Canoles’ Health Care Group assists clients with a broad range of issues including medical malpractice actions and disciplinary actions by state licensing boards, defense for professional liability insurance companies, hospitals, and physicians. The team has experience in litigating criminal and civil cases relating, among other things, to Medicare fraud and abuse, reimbursement disputes and representation of medical staff.
