September 2023 - Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that Joseph A. Dickinson has joined the firm’s Raleigh office.

Mr. Dickinson is Of Counsel in our Raleigh Office where his practice focuses on data use, privacy, and cybersecurity. He has over 30 years of experience in the industry with a background in technology and cybersecurity. He is also a former Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for a large academic medical center. He is a member of the Data Privacy and Security, Intellectual Property, Commercial, and Litigation practice groups.

Mr. Dickinson has managed many significant client matters such as the data privacy, security and compliance issues facing buyers, sellers, investors and insurers as part of 8-figure corporate M&A transactions, leading data breach responses, data privacy/security risk assessments, and managing third-party forensic investigations. He is a recognized leader in the data privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and healthcare industries, and is certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance. He received his B.A. from Malone University and his J.D., cum laude, from Cleveland State University Cleveland – Marshall College of Law.
