February 2018 - Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected as one of the 2018 Best Places to Work in Coastal Virginia by CoVaBIZ Magazine.

"We are extremely proud to be recognized as one of the best places to work in Coastal Virginia," said William R. Van Buren III, Chairman. "We have created a workplace that fosters innovative thinking, built on our shared values of respect for everyone's ability to contribute excellence in serving our clients. The result is a positive community atmosphere that keeps us all engaged."

In its 2018 Best Places to Work feature, CoVaBIZ offers a unique look at local businesses with creative, rewarding, and enjoyable work cultures where leaders strive to make work fun and fulfilling.

"'We can. And we will.' Is Kaufman and Canoles' promise. This means we bring a positive, can-do happen attitude at all levels of client services, so our clients know they are our highest priority. This can-do, make-it-happen attitude is woven into the firm on every level and is embraced by all employees. And that level of client service includes the service we provide internally to each other. On the internal side, we are family, and I believe the way people come together for other employees is what really makes the firm special. If there is a death in the family or if someone is having health issues, we come together and provide comfort - send cards, flowers, hot meals, etc. and offer support. There is a level of awareness and care that starts at the top, and I believe that sets us apart from other companies and makes Kaufman & Canoles a great place to work," said Marketing Director Nicole J. Naidyhorski.

Nominations for CoVaBIZ 2018 Best Places to Work contest were held from October 1 through November 10, 2017, during which time company employees from any business in Coastal Virginia could nominate their company through an online platform.

According to the magazine, the contest was only open to employee nomination in order to get an authentic understanding of the company's workplace and what makes the company stand out from other businesses in Coastal Virginia.

After nominations were reviewed by the magazine's editorial staff, winners were selected based on the quality of the business work environment, general company culture, training and development opportunities, tangible and intangible benefits, and employee satisfaction.

"It's rewarding for us to be able to learn about some of the outstanding company cultures in our region," said CoVaBIZ Editor-in-Chief Angela Blue. "We congratulate the business owners and managers who work to create, advocate, and implement positive work environments in which employees can learn, grow, and thrive with the success of their company."
