August 2015 - Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that the firm is the recipient of the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab Award for collecting the largest per capita donations – the equivalent of 604 pounds per person of food during Virginia's 9th Annual Legal Food Frenzy. Kaufman & Canoles also won the large firm category for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia's local awards.

The statewide food drive, organized by the Virginia Office of the Attorney General, the Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks is a competition between law firms, legal departments, government offices, and law schools across Virginia to raise donations for local food banks. The 2015 Legal Food Frenzy raised nearly 399,291 pounds of food for Virginia's hungry during the two-week competition.

"This is a terrific accomplishment achieved together as a firm, but more importantly, by our employees who contributed to improve the quality of life for those less privileged," said William R. Van Buren III, Chairman of Kaufman & Canoles.

Kaufman & Canoles' Legal Food Frenzy committee includes Laurie A. Claywell, Gayle P. Gregg, Nanette Ferguson, Hollie Foster, Tonia Moore, Beth Norton, Gail Sampson, Anna Richardson Smith, and Stephen E. Story.
