January 2021 - Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that Nicole J. Harrell has been selected by the Virginia Law Foundation to its Fellows Class of 2021. This honor is conferred on Virginia lawyers of integrity and character who are outstanding in their profession and their communities. Fellows join a group of more than 500 of the best and brightest legal practitioners in Virginia who are committed to the highest ideals of the law and to the concept of citizen-lawyer.

Ms. Harrell is Chair of the firm’s Data Privacy and Security, and Alcoholic Beverage Practice Groups. She is also a member of the Franchising; Intellectual Property; and Merger, Acquisitions & Strategic Alliances Practice Groups. Ms. Harrell handles a broad range of matters including cyber preparedness and breach response; federal and state trademark registration; copyright registration and assignment; negotiation of software development and licensing agreements; licensing of intellectual property; entity formation; corporate law; mergers and acquisitions and general contract negotiation; preparation of franchise disclosure documents; and franchise registration and compliance. Ms. Harrell also leads the firm’s pro bono efforts and Co-Chairs the Virginia Bar Association Pro Bono Council.
