Overview
With over 30 years of experience, Ray Suttle’s practice focuses on corporate, business and commercial real estate law. Based in the Newport News office, he advises clients on a wide variety of topics, including business formation and organization, commercial real estate transactions, and general business law.
Ray’s clients include privately held businesses, lenders, landowners, developers and municipal authorities. He serves as general counsel to various entities in both the private and public sectors.
He frequently advises business owners on forming business entities, corporate governance, and the laws affecting day to day business operations. Additionally, he assists sellers, purchasers and real estate developers with a variety of transactions including sales, financing and Section 1031 tax deferred exchanges.
In his work with municipal authorities, Ray possesses the in-depth knowledge of laws affecting government and authorities, including relevant procurement laws and Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act.
A native of Newport News and a second-generation lawyer, Ray is committed to providing his clients with excellent service and timely responsiveness.

Assisted public housing authority on a multi-million dollar Choice Neighborhood Incentive (CNI) redevelopment
Represented a seller in a $175 million sale of a long-term health care business
Represented various sellers and purchasers of commercial real property including the negotiation and closing of real estate transactions with relevant parties and lenders
