    Brandon S. Allred and Lisa Hudson Kim Elected Members at Kaufman & Canoles

    Kaufman & Canoles, P.C. is pleased to announce that Brandon S. Allred and Lisa Hudson Kim have been elected Members at the firm.

    Mr. Allred is in the firm’s Norfolk office and a member of the Real Estate Strategies, the Mergers, Acquisitions & Strategic Alliances, and Business Taxation Practice Groups. His practice includes advising clients on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial leasing and development, across various asset classes, mergers and acquisitions, senior, mezzanine and subordinated credit facilities, preferred equity investments, partnerships, buy-outs, corporate restructuring, general business law and corporate and commercial transactions. In addition, he advises clients on tax matters related to commercial transactions with a focus on syndications of historic tax credits in commercial real estate development transactions. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Brandon worked in tax accounting with Ernst & Young LLP in McLean, Virginia. He received his B.S. from the Washington & Lee University and his J.D. from the Washington & Lee University School of Law.

    Ms. Kim is a commercial and civil litigator in the firm’s Virginia Beach office and a member of the Consumer Finance; Family Law; Lender Representation; Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights and Business Restructuring; Real Estate Claims & Title Insurance Solutions; Lender Representation; and Real Estate Strategies practice groups, as well as the Credit Union industry team. Her practice includes representation of businesses and individuals in Virginia state and federal courts and North Carolina state courts in commercial and civil matters, with a focused concentration in the areas of real estate, consumer finance, creditors’ rights, and collections.  She served as law clerk to The Honorable Douglas O. Tice, Jr., Chief Judge (Retired) of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division. Prior to joining Kaufman & Canoles, P.C. in 2020, Lisa consulted in Washington, D.C. with a public accounting firm, practiced commercial litigation in a Richmond law firm, was a solo practitioner in Raleigh, and was part of the in-house legal department at a Virginia Beach foreclosure trustee. She received her B.B.A. from the College of William & Mary and her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law.
