    Brandon S. Allred and Robert Q. Johnson Named Practice Group Chairs

    Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that Brandon S. Allred was named the new Chair of the Real Estate Strategies Practice Group and Robert Q. Johnson was named the new Chair of the ESOPs & Employee Benefits Practice Group.

    Mr. Allred is a Member in the firm’s Norfolk office and a member of the Real Estate Strategies, Mergers, Acquisitions & Strategic Alliances, and Business Taxation Practice Groups. His practice includes advising clients on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial leasing and development across various asset classes, credit facilities, preferred equity investments, and corporate and commercial transactions. In addition, he advises clients on tax matters related to commercial transactions with a focus on syndications of historic tax credits in commercial real estate development transactions. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Brandon worked in tax accounting with Ernst & Young LLP in McLean, Virginia. He received his B.S. from Washington & Lee University and his J.D., cum laude, from Washington & Lee University School of Law.

    Mr. Johnson is a Member in the Newport News office. He helps employers and self-employed individuals navigate the entire spectrum of employee benefits and executive compensation fields. Mr. Johnson works alongside private, governmental, and tax-exempt employers and plan sponsors to create and maintain qualified retirements plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, and health and welfare plans. Mr. Johnson provides comprehensive ERISA advice and, if problems arise, guides employers and plan sponsors through self-compliance efforts, correction procedures, and audits. He received his B.A. from Christopher Newport University and his J.D. cum laude, from the University of Richmond School of Law.
